$100 challenge on WSBT

I recently had the chance to help WSBT with an experiment. Can a family of 4 eat for a week? 3 meals a day. No frozen pizza. Just home cooking. (Yes, I know I have 5, but they are all small)

Check out the first of 2 interviews.

I'll post the vid next Monday of our final interview & you can see if I was able to do it or not.

Are you going to post what you bought with it? We are paid twice a month so I haven't ever figured out how much we spend per week. I'm a pretty good bargain hunter so I would think I could do it. Actually, this would make a good family project!!! What fun to get to do the challenge and get the money to do it!!

Wawa - I didn't even think about photocopying the receipts so I could post what I bought. Maybe I'll find my menu & post it. That would help folks see what can be done.

I actually have quite a bit left over. Enough meat for 3 more days. Dried stuff for 4 days. Frozen veg for 4 days. But we're out of fresh produce.

After thinking about this more,I realized my food budget doesn't include when the kids get hot lunch and the fact my husband eats out a lot for work... So that would make things A LOT trickier! But my son is supposed to do a weekly food budget for cub scouts so I think we will try to keep it at $100 and see what happens. It would be good lesson for him! Especially since he likes to grab some of the more expensive items on the weekend that are supposed to be special for lunches!
